Thailand
Thailand is an amazing country which lies in the bare middle of South East Asia. It is bordered by Lao, Cambodia and Vietnam on the east side, Burma on the west side and Indonesia and wonderful gulf of Thailand on the South East coast. Its capital and center of political, cultural, commercial and industrial activities is Bangkok, also known as Krung Thep. Thailand is the home of amazing natural beauties such as waterfall, rainforest, amazing clear blue beaches, exotic wildlife that gathers foreigners from all around the world.
In fact, Thailand is the 50th world’s largest country in terms of total area and the 20th largest country in terms of population with approximately 63 million people. Basically, we could compare the size and population of Thailand to countries like France and United Kingdom. Thais are well-known for their friendliness and hospitality, leading to the country’s reputation as the “Land of Smiles.”
Thailand is a constitutional monarchy with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej also known as King Rama IX. He has reigned for over half a century as king of Thailand which makes him the longest reigning Thai monarch. The King is recognized as the Head of State, the Head of the Armed Forces, the Upholder of the Buddhist religion, and the Upholder of all religions. The country is also known to be the world’s strongest Buddhist area with over 95% of its population practicing Theravada Buddhism.
