How to Conduct Your Training Room Meeting

Sometimes the success of your training session lies in the training room that you booked. When you have prepared everything else—speakers, trainers, food and drinks, and training presentations—what’s left is to make sure that your attendees will enjoy learning and stay motivated.

Here are some tips on how to conduct your training the best way possible:

  • Set the course and follow-through

At the start of the training session, give the participants an overview of what the training is all about. Give them information about the key points you are going to discuss, as well as some rules or policies you must follow while the session is ongoing. Set a time limit per topic or activity, keep track of the time, and stay the course. Dedicate a time slot for questions at the end of the meeting.

  • Provide hands-on exercises

People learn the best when all their senses are engaged in the process. During your training, provide as much as hands-on experiences that are relevant to your topics. For example, if you talked about first-aid methods, demonstrate how to them, and let the participants do them on their own. Doing so makes it easier for them to understand the concepts and remember what they have to do when they experience the situation.

  • Take short breathers

Don’t overlook your participants’ attention span. After several minutes of just listening to a lecture, it is so easy for the mind to wander. People also tend to experience information overload in training. So, allow your participants to stand up, stretch, and take a short breather, such as a bathroom break or a water break. Short breaks will wake them up, keep their blood flowing, and enable them to pay attention to the training again.

  • Allow participants to share experiences

Learning is better when the participants are involved. Allow them to share their experiences that are relevant to your topic, how they can relate to what you are discussing, and what they think about how they will impact their future actions. You may have participants who are already seasoned in the industry or relatively new in the field, so it will be a good venue to share and learn from the experience of others.

  • Provide a quiz in a unique and fun way

Test how much your participants are learning in your training session by giving random quizzes in a unique and fun way. You can use games or allow them to do tasks and present them as groups to demonstrate what they know.

  • Integrate opportunities to socialize

You learn best when you are comfortable in your environment and when you are having fun. Integrate opportunities for participants to socialize with each other. This could be during lunch or snack time, where you ensure that they are all well-fed to keep them alert and motivated. You can also take advantage of the lounge and bar if you booked the training room in a hotel.

Training sessions are meant for participants to learn in the best way possible, and providing a conducive environment is a huge factor. It is also an opportunity for them to meet or socialize with other people who may be in the same industry or role. Keep these tips in mind to help the participants make the most of the training session.
